 Sedation Dentistry
Do trips to the dentist make you nervous or fearful? Do you need extensive dental work completed in a single office visit? Sedation dentistry promotes relaxation of mind and body, so you can receive the care you need. Dr. Kakos is a licensed dental anesthesiologist and regularly administers nitrous oxide, oral sedation, and IV sedation.
Nitrous oxide, commonly called laughing gas, is a mild anesthesia that provides temporary relief during minor procedures. Nitrous oxide may be used in conjunction with other sedation dentistry methods to optimize your comfort. Oral sedation and IV sedation are moderate sedation techniques that allow you to remain conscious during your dental procedure. This is often referred to as a "twilight state," because it's between wakefulness and deep sleep. Most patients experience total-body relaxation and have little memory of their dental procedure. Dr. Kakos will talk with you about your sedation dentistry options before treatment begins.
In addition to sedation dentistry, we offer paraffin hand wax and scented pillows as comfort amenities. You'll also have the option of listening to satellite radio, watching TV, or enjoying a DVD to make your experience more pleasant. Cozy blankets will keep you snuggly warm while our expert team attends to your dental needs.
Call our dental office to schedule your appointment with Dr. Kakos, an experienced sedation dentist. We provide comfortable dentistry for residents of Arlington Heights, Palatine, Schaumburg, Elk Grove Village, Mount Prospect, and beyond.
